CHoi Si WOn 's in interviewed by Japanese Magazine

Q :Kissing scenes in Oh My Lady was hot topic ..
SW : Opening scene in Episode 1, I had to kiss (actress’ name) and I was nervous because I had met her first time. But being a man, I could not show my anxiety.(laughed) Luckily there were fans present and I proved that I had no ‘other’ intentions towards her. Then that scene of kissing Chaerim noona in front of the refrigerator. Because I got to know her quite well, so I was not nervous..keke..it was work..(laughed)

Q : Have you thought of starting a family ?
SW: Have not considered when (at what age) should I marry. Nothing to do with age. When I have the confidence to be a good father, good husband, good son-in law, good son..then I would marry.

Q : In drama, you bared upper body?
SW: In the script..’chocolate abs’ was listed. So I had to exercise. Once filming started, there was no time to do it. Therefore the scenes of my ‘abs’ were shot beforehand, in early stage. Where I stripped off my shirt in 5th episode, I sacrificed sleep to exercise. In 2 weeks I lost 8 to 9 kilos. But losing weight too fast, I also gained back immediately.

Q : Shooting drama and SJ activities, very busy ?
SW: Straight filming for 48 days without a day of rest. Towards the end of drama, I was also working on the album, dance practise, album recording, MV and cover shoot of album. Slept for only one hour and then had to rehearse dancing. Two nights of MV making without sleep (laughed). At the same time, I had to prepare for the stage performances in the drama. And I contracted throat inflammation, but no time to go to hospital. After the drama ended, only then did I undergo surgery.

Q : Does Siwon the idol and ‘Min woo’ differ a lot?
SW: If my having a lover (girlfriend) is exposed by the media, I think I will reveal. Because I have the confidence to say “No need to hide my love”. I do not have to hide it because my fans understand me.

Q : Because you are not concerned about fans’ reactions ?
SW: I am not sure about fans of SJ, my own fans will understand me. Because they are all honest people. (laughed) In SJ, only my fans and Shindong’s fans..at airport or during activities, even our hyung managers do not block us. The fans do not surge (rush) towards us. It’s like some obstacle..they will keep a distance.

Q :Your impressions of Japanese fans ?
SW: Personally I pay a lot of attention to Japanese culture. Because I grew up reading manga and watching dramas. Japanese fans tend to hide their emotions, will not express unconditionally. In the beginning, I thought, “Not interested in me?” However, those stuff that even SJ members do not know about, the fans can remember long forgotten issues. Amazing. They like me for being so courteous. Touching on this topic, I heard there are not many Christians in Japan. Given a chance, I’d like to organise a Christian activity in Japan. During SJ’s Japanese concert, hyung manager even took me to a church.

Q : Your feelings on working with Chaerim?
SW: Chaerim noona is really the greatest actress. Always compensating for my incompetence. Truly fortunate.

Q : How did you get along with child actress Yubin who played Ye-eun ?
SW: Even just sitting still, she’s so adorable. And I like children (laughed) This time round in filming, what I gained the most was to understand the feelings of parents. As such, I wished to do something for Ye-eun. On Children’s Day..that day I gave Yu-bin a school bag and sunglasses as gifts.

Q : Ideal girl ?
SW : I like a girl whose pretty looks are ‘clear’. With ability to see probable crystal clear visions of other people, to see ahead and be understanding. To know how to compromise and also be good to parents. To make my parents happy is my biggest joy in life. Because there are my parents..then there is me. My father is my good role model.

Q : What was atmosphere during filming :
SW : I was thinking, “Will I be able to work with this kind of crew and director again ? Laughing at start and laughing at end of work. I was the youngest, acted ‘aegyo’ (cute) and made the atmosphere lively. Although the anxious tight schedules made us all tired, I made a funny face, cracked a joke to make everyone happy. In actual fact, I am not this type of person (laughed)

Q : As an actor, what roles would you like to challenge ?
SW: Not a policeman, prosecutor or a student..these are stereotyped roles. Would like those traumatic roles and such works.

Q : Any Siwon’s opinions or ideas in the acting?
SW : In the drama..that scene, after deciding to abandon Ye-un, Min Woo returned to his room and was heavily troubled. I asked myself, “How to express (convey) Min Woo’s inner turmoil so that viewers could understand him ? I thought of using Ye-un’s doll to help out. However, Min Woo’s personality was such that he could not possibly place Ye-eun’s doll, clothes and school bag in his room. And then there was this taped recording of Ye-eun’s performance in the kindagarten. Used this to convey Min Woo’s troubled mind.

Q : First lead role..lots of attention, any pressure ?
SW: Pressure..huge pressure. It was extreme important period of time for SJ..and I was only one to return to drama acting, tremendous pressure for me. Luckily netizens, viewers and the press media came to watch..it was fortunate.

Choi Si Won - Paulo Coelho Talks about a scene in Oh My Lady

Paulo Coelho Talks about a scene in Oh My Lady

Recently, popular novelist Paulo Coelho talked about a scene in Oh My Lady and posted it on his twitter. He talks about the scene where Sung Min Woo's manager tells his actor about mentioning Paulo Coelho in the recent interview he had on the drama.

Think of an author with an easier name! Pense em um autor com nome mais simples! 2:38 min in this Korean movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ll28gnPeZok&feature=youtu.be&a
(link to Oh My Lady)
I was shocked about this, Paulo Coelho watching a Korean drama? That will be awesome. He may soon maybe Oppa Siwon's fan :))

Paulo Coelho (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈpawlu kuˈeʎu]; born August 24, 1947) is a Brazilian lyricist and novelist.

Choi Si Won - is an actor ^_^

Choi Siwon’s Challenge Was A Success
Recently, many Korean singers from bands have been seen in either dramas or musicals. However, these stars are originally singers, and to see them appear on the small screen, what kind of results will it have? Do their acting abilities deserve to be praised? And just like that, lately, a new group of singers attracted the attention of many of us, the audience.

Within those stars, one that is the most popular is probably Super Junior’s member Choi Siwon. With him in the SBS drama “Oh! My Lady”, he had proved his acting skills in it and also won the audience’s approval. However, when they first made decisions on the drama’s male lead, many had expressed their doubts and worries about his acting skills. But, when the drama was first broadcasted, Choi Siwon through Sung Minwoo made people gradually forget his identity as a singer. Choi Siwon in “Oh! My Lady” is interpreting a top star, and together with Chae Rim, they will develop a romantic relationship, whereas in between there will be the appearance of his daughter. And with that kind of character’s background and plot, it makes it even more difficult to find the perfectly play the male lead’s character. However, Choi succeeded in interpreting Sung Minwoo, this top star’s charm and expressed his own feelings to his daughter, like a real father would do. In the drama through the character of Sung Minwoo, we can also see that Choi Siwon had totally released himself from his identity as a singer during the shooting, now, people are more likely to see Choi Siwon as an actor.

Even if the resulting ratings aren’t that high for the drama “Oh! My Lady”, this can also be counted as Choi Siwon’s first product as an actor. Some people who followed the drama said : “We say Choi Siwon as an actor, we think that he has the qualities to be an actor. Him and Sung Minwoo in the drama are very alike, we can’t barely difference both. We are also looking forward for Choi Siwon’s next production.” Even though there’s many other singers who acted dramas as well, Choi Siwon’s rather more successful. Choi Siwon took off his singer identity, and now, he’s starting from scratch with his identity of an actor facing the public. Regarding his next production, the fans are anticipating it with much excitement.

Choi Si Won - review of Oh My Lady (prepare your heart)

Dear visitors, please consider to prepare your heart before read this review ..
first of all, let us give applause to our beloved Siwon Choi ... --Siwonn saranghaee!!-- siwonlover

--------------------------
Oh! My Lady
오! 마이 레이디
(Mar – May 2010)

who’s in it
Chae Rim (Powerful Opponents, Dal Ja’s Spring)
Choi SiWon (Legend of Hyung Dan, Super Junior – member)
Lee HyunWoo (Dal Ja’s Spring, Attic Cat)
Park HanByul (Couple or Trouble, Freeze)

what’s it about
Chae Rim plays a divorced single mother unable to make ends meet after losing a job that didn’t pay so reliably in the first place. With no source for steady income, she finds herself out on the streets. She’s forced to send her daughter to temporarily live with her douchebag ex-husband (who clearly has money even though the first words out of his mouth are “I have no money to give you!”). To scrape by, she provides housekeeping services and lands a gig managing the pad of A-List star but F-Quality actor Choi SiWon, who can be described as a celebrity only slightly less narcissistic than his own reflection.

When Chae Rim is presented with a rare opportunity to score a decent, stable job at Lee HyunWoo’s production company trying to put together a new musical, she’s willing to do anything. In a lucky stroke of fortune (as fortune tends to be defined as something lucky), this company desperately requires a Top Star to lead their new production…and their first choice is someone Chae Rim knows personally. Well, not someone she knows so much as someone she’s definitely had contact with (of the vacuum-whacking variety). If Chae Rim can get bad-acting but insanely-popular Choi SiWon to take the lead role, she’ll get the internship—this is the president’s offered deal.

Fortunately this may not be such a bad professional pairing after all because horrible thespian he may be, turns out the actor is a pretty decent singer, as evidenced when he showcases his voice (and abs) at a fan meet and concert (for us in the real world, no real surprise there as Choi SiWon is a part of idol mob Super Junior in real life).

Things really go awry when Choi SiWon and Chae Rim get a shocking surprise from the actor’s first love (well, the longest he’s ever dated anyone anyway, according to his friend)...and it’s delivered right to his doorstep...and it’s the kind of problem that cries and demands lots of love.

wildcard factor
Choi SiWon was surprisingly really great here as the egotistical actor that wasn’t completely the vain oaf he appeared to be on the surface. Now, I use the adverb ‘surprisingly’ only because of his relative lack of experience in acting, not because I’d expected him the fail. Well, okay, maybe I had a healthy dose of skepticism. Can you blame me? Pretty boy idols in dramas can be a hit or miss venture! For my own safety, I won’t go into further detail or point fingers elsewhere. Although, in a way, I suppose Choi SiWon had already been vetted when he starred in Legend of Hyang Dan. Anyhow, he’s like a gigantic log of good-looking ambling around your screen…he’s especially pleasing to enjoy in HD glory, I must say. What a darling little beauty mark he has on his nose.

And trust me, the next thing I am about to write is not penned lightly: He carried this entire disaster of a show on his shoulders all by HIMSELF.

Thank gawd they were very wide, capable and hunky shoulders.

first impressions
Oy, a dark-haired handsome younger man and Lee HyunWoo duking it out for ChaeRim’s affections—again? I had to give myself a cheek-smack and forcibly cast off the formidable shadow of Dal Ja’s Spring otherwise I worried I wouldn’t be able to give Lady a fair shake. Not to mention, I’d just finished another wonderfully done younger man/older woman drama called The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry and felt a tad wary of rebounding into another one so soon.

On the other hand, if it’s a good drama, it’s a good drama and I can watch the same story done a thousand times over—if done well.

When starting this drama, another concern for me was the similarity of the initial chords strung by Lady to the drama it replaced in the SBS time slot, Stars Falling From the Sky. The latter being one that I was not able to eek to the finish line. Generally speaking, the concept of an unlucky woman with no real marketable skills or credentials finding work as a housekeeper to support child(ren) and self while trying diligently to succeed at a job she’s under-qualified for but impresses everyone with her gumption and thereby inadvertently wins the affections of the tightly-wound and rich/handsome benefactor…etc, etc, to-ma-to, to-mah-to. But what Lady had going for it that Stars lacked (from my perspective) was the loveliness that is Chae Rim. I wasn’t sure if this character was going to be a good vehicle for her, but I knew this age-defying actress was capable of making this kind of role work.

Speaking of age-defying, seriously, did she find the Fountain of Youth? She looked fab. A little on the too-thin side, but still passably 5 years younger than her actual age!

Ultimately, Choi SiWon felt like he could be a good foe for Chae Rim, but I remained only cautiously optimistic because it wasn’t outstanding in its first few episodes. I wasn’t impressed by Lady after the initial tour of the set[up], but the second episode was much better than the first and with more characters to come, things seemed positively bent. Also, I loved Chae Rim enough to forge on and keep the faith! I sent lots of positive thoughts and encouragement to this drama.

gave up

snoozer moments
Unfortunately, all those positive thoughts were not able to traverse the wide gulf between the North American continent and the Korean peninsula. Looking at the whole picture, the boring parts of this drama far outweighed and outnumbered any of its good points...which were microscopic, at best.

You see, any good the actors did was quickly negated by the bad everything else.

soju-guzzling
Not really. Pretty G-rated. There were two little children on the show, after all...although they were conveniently put elsewhere (seemingly to babysit themselves) whenever the adults needed to do some late night emoting on their own.

what didn’t work
To be coldly honest? Chae Rim. Obviously she is a good actress but her take on this role was painful to watch. The character was a sad sack and always carried upon her face a droopy Snoopy expression. It got to be a tad annoying. What else was annoying? The heavy-handed progression of the storyline between the two leads. It was like watching two left-footed dancers trying to do the waltz. Clunk, clunk, clunk! There was absolutely zilch chemistry between Choi SiWon and Chae Rim.

When the curtain finally came down, I was left scratching my head at their supposed romance.

Let me put it another way. When we arrived at the final week of Lady’s scheduled run, I was surprised it was already the end. Not because I was loathe to see it go but because I was still waiting for some Big Event to happen and turn this drama on its head! But that wowowow moment never materialized! There was no real climactic drum BANG, only a bunch of minor cymbals clanging here and there. And where, I ask you, was the angst? There was nothing. A hike with no payoff. It was the most uneventful and banal kdrama journey.

As I watched Chae Rim week after week, I started to ponder the whys—as in why wasn’t this role working for Chae Rim? Why doesn’t she have any spark with Choi SiWon? Why does it feel like Chae Rim only half showed up? It occurred to me that Chae Rim neglected to demonstrate one important aspect of a divorced, single woman struggling to support a young child: SASS. Where was her fire? Her strength? Where was that sharp heel on the back of her foot that let us know she was a W-O-M-A-N? Where was all that shining inner charisma that had erupted out of her like molten lava in Dal Ja’s Spring? Honestly, I don’t think Chae Rim ever connected with her character. She didn’t bring this woman to life, this person representative of a very real and sober world, a place where mothers struggle to raise their children alone. I never once felt like I was watching Yoon GaeHwa - a housewife and divorced single mom. I only saw the pretty actress Chae Rim trying really hard to play a divorced single mom. You know?

There really is a difference between acting and becoming.

what did
Read if you want to be spoiled: [ Choi SiWon and his little daughter were like hot fudge and vanilla ice cream—a simply delightful match. They were freakin’ adorable. One particular scene comes to mind: while at a department store, the little girl gets lost and mistakes a life-sized cardboard cut-out of Choi SiWon as the real thing. When he finally finds her, one tiny hand is holding onto the cardboard cut-out of her father’s hand. I just about melted into pudding! It was the cutest dang thing I’d ever seen! The thawing of Choi SiWon’s coldness was the best part of the show. The small steps he took to allow this new little person into his life were truly heart-warming. The young father’s genuine delight while interacting with his daughter were the only honest parts of the whole thing.]

what made me want to gouge my eyes out
Well, I bring to the table two things:

1) Lukewarm actress Han Byul (remember her in Freeze and Couple or Trouble—blech). Her manipulative character had the potential to be really fun, but turned out to be a feeble gnat-like villain. I couldn’t even muster any hate for her. She was just so boring. If Han Byul had allowed herself to really enjoy playing the conniving, celebrity-hunting vixen, maybe even added some Cruella de Vil to the character and injected some exaggerated nastiness, it might have been a better part. It had me nostalgic for the more successful attempt in a similar role by UEE in You’re Beautiful. She was pitch-puuuurfect there as the two-faced, overdramatic witchress trying to nab a hot stud.

Han Byul was yet another bummer-rag in this show, but in all honesty, I can’t really fault her too much as she was just one out of a million other misses for this drama. I mean, you can’t blame the kitchen assistant for chopping the carrots incorrectly when the head chef doesn’t even know how to make the stew.

But for just one second, let’s speculate on how great it could have been...had at least the second lead managed some chemistry with our boy? Silly, yes, to have believed that Han Byul could have saved this sinker, but still, I always hope for the impossible…if we don’t hope for the impossible, what reason is there to live watch kdramas?

2) Chae Rim was such a disappointment here. I think I’ve said enough on that up above.

what kept me going
Choi SiWon’s goofy adorableness. He pulled the funniest faces. It was worth watching to the end just to see the myriad of expressions on the handsome actor/singer’s face. Possibly Suju fans are already familiar with the goofier sides of Choi SiWon’s charms, but it was new for me. I’d, of course, seen the Super Junior movie Attack on the Pin-Up Boys and thought it was enjoyable. My conclusion after watching the light comedy was that Dong Hae seemed quite a charmer, but aside from my passing familiarity with Super Junior’s music and the variety show activities of the various members, I’d never become a fan girl of Choi SiWon’s idol group. If you’ve read any of my other posts, it’s more than clearly spelled out where my heart firmly and forever rests. But because of Lady, I feel one step closer to Super Junior. Choi SiWon really impressed here.
______________________________

Other factors:
predictability Yes. Yawn. I mean, they were making a musical or something and Lee HyunWoo was having some marital issues...blah di blah blah. Truly, at no point did I ever care about any of it.
engrish No
originality No
eye-candy ELFs, you can all rejoice, your boy did good...and looked good while doing good
hair and fashion Unremarkable
______________________________

is it worth trying to find?
No (unless you love the Choi SiWon)

total enjoyment factor
5/10

Here’s the math:
2 points for Choi SiWon
2 points for Kim YeuBin who played YeEun; spoiler alert -->(his daughter)
1 point for the last episode, which was actually engaging

total disdain factor

why this review is completely biased
Maybe my expectations were too high…?
I should have checked them at the door when I was taking off the shoes of anticipation

could a non-kdrama fan like this
No

verdict
My biggest problem with this drama was its inability to make any part of the story feel even remotely natural. The whole thing came off as being completely forced. Not only was the scenario concocted to bring Choi SiWon and Chae Rim together completely unbelievable, there was absolutely no real reason why these two people would have fallen in love with one another even after being stuck together. He addressed her as ahjumma (similiar to ma’am) the whole way through and only near the very end did he switch over to her name...probably because the show realized it was running out of time and needed the two lovebirds to quickly commence with the googly eyes and ahjumma is hardly a romantic pet name for a lover. The sudden declaration of (read if you want to be spoiled)--> [marriage] <-- in the very last episode made even LESS sense. For global warming’s sake, the two barely knew one another!

Was it true love or an actor’s need for someone to manage the home? The drama insisted theirs was a sincere connection of the heart, but really, the way the story progressed, it felt more like an affection borne out of convenience, not a romantic ‘you’ve stolen my heart’ type of thing. I didn’t buy their love story and since Lady’s plot hung its entire fate on the romance between the two main leads, it was a total failure for me.

In fact, everyone in the show appeared to do a complete turnaround in the last episode—from Chae Rim’s douchebag ex-husband to Han Byul, the conniving girl who wanted to hook it up with a celebrity—not only were the change of hearts brought out of nowhere, they were completely out of character. Neither of these two people had shown a smidgeon of compassion for 15 episodes when all of sudden, they turned into care bears who wanted only the best for the main couple. They recognized true love between the actor and the housekeeper and that epiphany had them singing a different tune. Uh-huh. That cooked up nonesense aside, ironically, despite the fact that it made no sense, the last hour had more substance and emotion in it than all 15 hours preceding it.

But I tell you what, the show wasn’t completely unwatchable.

Why not? Why did I keep coming back for more? Let’s just say, I now look forward to Choi SiWon’s next acting project. He did alright. Cheesy as it sounds, he had clear and honest eyes...and he convinced me there’s some acting chops behind that pretty face. ---

truly, although this review was little bit 'spicy' .. still i want to repost it here. just to let u know, what people think about OML. It's sincerely review without intending to offend.
Let's pray for Siwon for his next drama/movie.. since people recognize his ability in acting...we will soon hear people say ...'please welcome... actor.... Siwon Choi'
and everybody ..... give standing applause..

Choi SI Won - 조 성욱 - 못났죠 a song of Minwoo in OhMy Lady

조성욱 - 못났죠
Jo Sung Wook - Mot Nat Jo

참 못난 사람이 나죠 아픈 그댈 못봤죠
I'm such a bad person, not noticing you in pain

뒤늦게 그댈 알죠 왜 난
I noticed you so late

하루하루 그댈 안고 알고 살았지만
Even though I lived embracing and knowing you day by day

맘이 많이 지쳤나요
Is your heart really tired?

한발 다가가면 더 다쳐가는 우리
With each step, we hurt even more

나 소리없이 울죠 나 눈치없이 웃죠
I cry without a sound, I laugh without catching on/noticing

그대 뒤에서 "가 지마 가지마" 그 말은 삼켜내죠
Behind you, I swallow the words "Don't go, don't go"

참 그댄 아름답죠 참 그댈 사랑했죠
You're so beautiful, I really loved you

나 자신없이 "돌 아와 돌아와" 맘으로 외치죠
Without confidence I cry out "Come back, come back" with my heart

참 우린 닮지 못했죠 서로 상처만 줬죠
We couldn't become more like each other, we only hurt each other

뒤늦게 후회하죠 왜 난
Much later I'm regretting

하루하루 그댈 닮고 닮고 살았지만
Although I lived day by day becoming more like you

미워지워버렸나요
Did you forget/erase me because you hated me

한발 다가가면 더 멀어지는 우리
With each step, we get farther apart

나 소리없이 울죠 나 눈치없이 웃죠
I cry without a sound, I laugh without catching on/noticing

그대 뒤에서 "가 지마 가지마" 그 말은 삼켜내죠
Behind you, I swallow the words "Don't go, don't go"

나와 함께했던 시간 그 날들이 사랑이 맞다면
If the times you spent with me were actually of love

제 발 가지마 가지마 가지마 가지마 돌아와 돌아와
Please don't go, don't go, don't go, don't go come back, come back

참 그댄 아름답죠 참 그댈 사랑했죠
You're so beautiful, I really loved you

잊 혀진단 건 거짓말 거짓말 거짓말이네요
To say that it'll fade away is a lie lie lie

제발 가지마 가지마 돌아와 돌아와
Please don't go, don't go come back, come back

If anyone wants a romanization, I'll try to do that too.
I'm actually really enjoying this drama right now. Love ChoiSiWon (<3!) and ChaeRim together. I'm currently watching OML, Cinderella Unni, and Personal Taste but OML is my favorite. I'm going to be pretty sad when it's over!

Choi Si Won - was in Korean Hurricane Magazine, April 2010 Issue

True & Love

(Text on bottom left corner)

Spring is always the most beautiful season of the year, when living creatures awake from their slumber, and the gentle breeze caresses your face. In a spring like this, Choi Siwon’s new drama Oh! My Lady greets the audience, and from the few episodes that have been broadcasted, Siwon’s acting skills have been approved by all. A lot of people have been saying that Choi Siwon is a natural actor. These comments all stem from the looks he possesses since the day he was born, and for the past few years Siwon has been ceaselessly sharpening his acting skills, and hopes that the viewers can see past his looks and recognize his skills in acting. Although his character Sung Minwoo in the drama is someone who does not possess any acting skills, but Siwon’s acting has achieved recognition and confirmation through this drama. Getting this sort of attention in the first time that he’s taking the lead role in a drama naturally makes Siwon very happy, and from a person’s working attitude, it reflects their attitude towards life; Siwon is like that, because as he said, no matter towards work or life, he is a very serious person, and sincerity is one of his creeds in life.

Interview

Q: Siwon, who is dubbed as the gentleman, playing the character of a “hypercritical and prideful megastar” that falls in love with an “ahjumma manager”, and at the same time, this is your first try in handling the lead role, will you feel extremely pressured?
SW: Since this character is rather different from my actual self, so I was even more intrigued to take up the challenge and try (my hands at it). Although it’s a good thing to play an upright (good) character, I would dislike it if I were to be constrained to the same patterns (of character) all the time. To speak the truth, I’m not really burdened. If I don’t do it well, I’ll just be criticized for it, and as time passes, everyone will also forget about it.

Q: Then that means you’re quite confident in yourself!
SW: It’s not like that, because when you’re tangled in the determination that you must do well (in something), it would become very exhausting instead due to the enormous pressure. It’s precisely because of that, that I would only do everything seriously, but I won’t think about the results.

Q: At the beginning of the year, your weight was still 78kg, but was reduced to 70kg one week later. What’s your secret?
SW: Secret? It’s just through not eating, and jogging like crazy. Doing aerobic exercises for three hours every day, and a ruthless dieting plan that doesn’t allow me to drink much water finally enabled my body to reach the intended results by the time limit.

Q: Isn’t it very hard for you?
SW: It’ll have to be a little ruthless, since this is for the sake of the job. To speak the truth, I don’t really like exercising. However, since being a celebrity requires me to frequently appear in public, so I don’t really have a choice. Besides, there are a lot of people who are looking forward (to seeing me).

Q: This is your first time taking the lead role in a drama, did the other (Super Junior) members show their care for you?
SW: Of course, Heechul hyung told me: “you haven’t been acting for a long time, all the feelings are disappearing, get all the sensations (of acting) back fast!”

Q: “Teukigayo” which is formed by Leeteuk, Eunhyuk and Shindong, must have advertised for you on their show too!
SW: Yes, our friendship has been great all this time, and I would also do the same for them too! We have a strong uniting force.

Q: This is the first time you’re playing the lead role, and you’re acting with your sunbae Chaerim. How did the both of you get along?
SW: Everyone knows that Chaerim noona is a sunbae that can be trusted by everyone. She really takes care of me at the filming site. While I was still worrying whether she was too exhausted, she approached me to ask me about my condition first. Actually before the filming, we didn’t know each other. I’m just one of her fans.

Q: I remember that you acted in the movie Battle of Wits* some years back, along with some star sunbaes which includes Ahn Sung-ki and Andy Lau among others. To you, the meeting with Ahn Sung-ki who is dubbed as the “national actor” really changed your views on your attitude towards life, right?
SW: Yes, to me, Ahn sunbae is in the genuine level of an “idol”! Before I started filming for this drama, I told him that I would be acting, and he immediately encouraged me, saying : “Good, good, you’ll have to do this properly. If you work hard, you’ll achieve good results.”

Q: In real life, you’re someone who has a strong determination to win, right? I know that in one of the Star King episodes last year, you had more than 60 clothes pegs on your face because you wanted to challenge the old record.
SW: Actually I really hate to fail. When the guests were invited to challenge the record, it’s not really nice if they could better the record. Even so, my body did not relax one bit. You have to give your best in everything you do, and through that way, you won’t be regretting in the future.

Q: Towards Siwon, who does your best in everything you do, what meaning does it carry in terms of love?
SW: I’m the type of person who gives my all in love. It’s to the extent that I would ask the CEO of my company “Is it okay if I got married now?” while we’re talking. My boss was shocked, and answered “Yes… Yes… But you’re not really getting married now, are you!?” And I replied “Yes! I don’t have one (a target) now.” (laughs)

Q: Then your ideal relationship would be one where you can sacrifice everything.
SW: At the end of our lives, everyone would either go to heaven or hell, but you only live your life once, so I would really love to complete my life happily. I really hope that I could sacrifice my all for love, just like how God sacrificed Himself for every living thing. Wasn’t it mentioned that “love can dispel all evil” in the Bible?

Q: In the drama, what type of girls does Minwoo like?
SW: It would be best if the girl is pretty, but as time goes by, he would prefer girls who can have heart-to-heart talks with him, and can communicate with each other. Actually in reality, I would also give the same answer. I still like girls that I can communicate with. And this isn’t just restricted to words, but also in terms of our hearts. My profession has determined that I would always work late nights, and have an irregular life, so I have to pay a lot of attention. At the same time, (the girl) who becomes my other half may also be faced with the possibility of being attacked (by fans?). So if a girl wants to be with me, she’ll have to be someone who really understands me, and if she’s soft on the outside and hard on the inside** with a strong endurance, that would be the best.

Q: Is there a possibility that you would fall for Chaerim’s “ahjumma manager” character that has a kid in real life?
SW: In reality, I won’t tell lies, and I don’t like telling lies either, so I will not lie when I say that age really doesn’t matter to me. Even if our age difference is at least 12 years apart, once you love each other, and love starts to blossom, then age is but a number. If you can’t love because of identity, age, or criteria, then there wouldn’t be any heart-warming stories like that of Romeo and Juliet in this world. Regardless of the times, love that surpasses identity or background can be found everywhere. Thus I would of course think that this (falling for older women) is possible.
